In late April, a mighty storm hit the Texas Hill Country, sweeping through Mo-Ranch.
The strong winds toppled over the iconic cross at Chapel on the Hill.
A safe spot for many, the cross stood as a marker of Mo-Ranch for decades.
Now, it’s time to rebuild.
In May, Mo-Ranch participated in a campaign called #GivingTuesdayNow that raised funds for organizations hit hard by COVID-19.
Some of funds donated during the campaign will go to constructing a new cross.
The restoration effort is being led by is Mike Musitano, an Austin-based quality control manager for a structural steel fabricator company called Cody Builders Supply.
Muistano has deep roots at Mo — he is the son-in-law of David Evans, chairman of the Board of Trustees and has been vising the ranch for years.
The new cross will stand at 20 feet tall and five feet wide, similar to the one that fell. It will also be able to withstand 100 mph winds.
