Because of generous Mo-Ranch supporters, for the third year, Presbyterian Mo-Ranch Assembly counselors packed up Mo-Ranch Summer Camp and journeyed down to Camp Loma De Vida in Edinburg, Texas, to host Camp in the Valley. You made it possible for 93 youth to experience Christian summer camp who otherwise would not have. You did this! Thank you.
During the week of camp, participants tried their hands at archery, learned about critters, swam, played soccer and basketball, enjoyed outdoor cooking classes, bounced on inflatables and strengthened their faith lives by participating in daily Bible study and worship.
“This was, by far, the most engaging week for the counselors, and all of the kids really wanted to be there,” said Ellen Ludwig, adventure programmer and asst. summer camp director. “The counselors were so excited for the opportunity to work with 93 youth from The Valley. We had campers come up to us and say that they had never experienced this type of support or had anyone say they were proud of them.” They learned to live the 5 Cs of Mo-Ranch Summer Camp: Christian living, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication.
You have made better Christians and better citizens.
Camp in the Valley grew by more than 24 youth in summer 2018, and Ludwig said the biggest challenge is space for more campers.
“We love the facility, but we need more room,” Ludwig said. “I would love to see Camp in the Valley grow to two weeks in the future. All of the youth are so deserving, and we’d love to see a lot of new and returning campers.”
Because of your generosity, Mo-Ranch had the opportunity to expand its mission beyond the bounds of the Guadalupe and take the gospel to “the least of these.”
“We were able to involve a community that is often forgotten,” Ludwig said. “Every camper that attended was grateful for the opportunity.”
The children thank you, and we thank all of you, for your generous support. You made it happen.
